SYDNEY -- 4 JUNE 2018 -- During Q1 of 2018, the health services sector accounted for "the largest proportion of eligible data breaches", at 24 percent of all Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB), according to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). Human error was identified as the main cause of these breaches. Patient personal information, such as health information, contact information, financial details, identity and other sensitive information, is put at risk when a breach occurs.
